Developing Early Math Concepts

  • Enrich basic mathematical thinking and problem solving by stimulating and strengthening students’ associated cognitive functions, including flexibility, precision and accuracy, verbal and non - verbal receptive tools, extended focus, attention span, and temporal orientation
  • Enhance students’ understanding of core concepts to meet associated standards of geometric forms, number sense, the four operations, place value, fractions, predictions, and probability
  • Expand students’ labeling vocabulary, including such terms as cardinality, unit, group, and the four operations
  • Develop students’ spontaneous comparative behavior
  • Enable students to enjoy thinking flexibly about numbers and numerical operations
  • Prepare students for extending core concepts to future challenges of arithmetic, algebra, etc.
  • Design assignments to gauge students’ conceptual understanding
  • Assess student progress and re - teach before administering mandated standardized tests
