IRI in Alaska:
Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment Yields
Dramatic Advancement in Young Children’s
Critical Thinking Ability, Motor Skills, and Language Development
IRI is working with the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development to provide six school districts in rural, remote, and urban areas with the Feuerstein Early Childhood (FIE) BASIC/Critical Thinking program. The project serves 250 children in Bethel, Hoonah, Juneau, King Cove, Minto, Sand Point and Unalakleet. Coached by IRI, each community has customized its own application and evaluation of the FIE program using a variety of assessment tools. Results show that the three, four, and five-year-old pre-school children have made significant advances in motor skills, conceptual understanding, and language development.
