How do we build analytical readers for post-secondary learning or job instruction?”

“How do we apply critical thinking strategies to enable higher reading among all secondary students?”

“How do we identify and correct those cognitive deficiencies that inhibit students from reading critically?”

“How do we incorporate writing to enable students to explore what they have read?

iRi’s High School Reading professional learning programs are best suited for teachers across content areas where critical reading is required. Teachers will learn to integrate vocabulary and comprehension strategies into daily lessons to enable students to analyze and discuss key concepts in challenging courses.

iRi’s unique READING professional learning programs prepare educators to stimulate the essential cognitive capabilities that are prerequisites for all students’ reading success. This is our last chance to prepare students for the reading challenges of a college curriculum or job training program.

Key components of each program include:

  • 14 hours on-site study for districts, schools, or a select group of your educators whom you would like certified as in-house trainers to then directly coaching your teachers internally
  • Instruction by a classroom-experienced, iRi-certified Reading Specialist trained in our exclusive literary application of Feuerstein’s cognitive practices to promote critical readers
  • Opportunity to integrate iRi’s cognitive approach into your existing curricula, lesson plans, and standards-based reading materials
  • Differentiated teaching strategies and tactics
  • Post-coursework coaching and evaluation of student improvement
