Early Childhood

How do we inspire young readers to first ‘get it’ and then ‘love it’?”

“How do we enable phonemic and phonic understanding for early success?”

“How do we identify and correct those cognitive deficiencies that inhibit early readers and cause the reading gap?”

“How do we nurture students’ desire for fluency?

iRi’s Early Childhood Reading programs are best suited for teachers across curriculum areas who are passionate about enhancing critical thinking skills and reading achievement for all students.

Jumpstart All Student to Read Early. Stimulate cognitive functions for early literacy success.

Reading Comprehension

  • Mediate those cognitive functions which enable early comprehension: problem recognition, relevant information selection, spontaneous comparative behavior, spatial and temporal relations, and conservation of constancies
  • Help students make connections among facts, concepts, and events
  • Use simple graphic organizers to sharpen student perception of relationships (webs, chain of events, story maps, etc.)
  • Cultivate students’ question-asking skills
  • Develop strategies and tactics for differentiated instruction
  • Design guided reading and lessons that motivate intrinsic love of reading
  • Evaluate students’ enhanced understanding of what they read
