Dynamic Assessment of Cognitive Modifiability: Learning Propensity Assessment Device

The Dynamic Assessment of Cognitive Modifiability or Learning Propensity Assessment Devise (LPAD) is a unique system by which a trained mediator analyzes the development of a student’s cognitive functions. This is a robust tool for determining a challenged learner’s cognitive modifiability and designing strategies to enable achievement.

The examiner observes the thinking, understanding, and retention of what a student learns in response to different ways of teaching. Unlike traditional educational and psychological evaluations, the LPAD is not based on information from scores or single responses, but from observations of repeated responses to verbal, numerical, pictorial, figural, symbolic, and graphic tasks and from teaching the student how to solve problems and respond correctly. Used in conjunction with standardized tests, the LPAD adds a rich perspective to the types of interventions that may be needed to optimize an individual’s ability to learn.
