Strengthen all children’s critical thinking skills.
Deficient Cognitive FunctionsFeuerstein advocates that we can and must first identify then correct those deficient cognitive functions that are prerequisites of operational thinking. Cognitive functions are deficient when they have failed to develop in the learner, generally as a result of absent or ineffective mediated experiences. Via such programs as Mediated Learning Experience (MLE), Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD), and Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment (FIE), an iRi-trained mediator can build students’ cognitive structures, thereby strengthening their thinking strategies, restraining impulsivity, enabling more precision in data gathering, and enhancing problem-solving skills.
